What Is Plastic Pigment

Plastic pigments, that is, pigments that can change the color of plastic raw materials.

There are three main methods for coloring plastic pigments. The first method is to use powdered pigments directly. The second is to mix them with plasticizers to form paste and then mix them. The third method is to mix color masterbatch. [1]

The basic requirements of pigments used in plastics are: temperature resistance, non migration, easy dispersion and sunlight resistance.

Inorganic pigments are metal oxides. Generally speaking, they are resistant to high temperature and do not migrate. They are suitable for almost all plastics. However, they have low coloring power, incomplete color types, low cost performance, and some of them contain heavy metals.

Oil soluble pigments have high cost performance and complete colors. They are suitable for PS POM, ABS PC and a few of them are suitable for PA

According to the characteristics of organic pigments, they are suitable for all kinds of plastics, mainly used in PP, PE, PVC, Pu PS

Inorganic pigments for Plastics:

1. Titanium dioxide, including anatase and rutile, with high whiteness and excellent performance, suitable for all kinds of plastics.

2. Iron oxide pigments and environmental protection pigments can basically pass the SGS detection, and do not contain heavy metals. Iron red, iron orange, iron yellow and zinc iron yellow are suitable for plastics. The color is darker.

3. Chrome green, chrome yellow, medium chrome yellow, molybdenum chrome red, cadmium yellow, cadmium orange, cadmium red, with bright colors and high stability, but all contain heavy metals and are not recommended for use under special circumstances.

4. Cobalt blue, bismuth yellow, titanium nickel yellow and cerium red have no relevant prohibited standards for these pigments. But the price is higher.
