What Are The Classifications Of Organic Pigments?
Organic pigments are colored compounds used in different fields. Colored substances can be divided into two categories: inorganic colored substances and organic colored substances, except for a few natural compounds, which are all synthetic colored compounds. As a colorant for different applications, it is often required to have coloring strength, satisfactory vividness, and excellent durability (such as heat resistance and acid / alkali stability, weather fastness, etc.).
There are many types of organic pigments. In order to facilitate the application and understand its related chemical structure and characteristics, different classification methods can be used. Classification is usually based on different chromatography, molecular chemical structures, and application properties.
(1) Chromatographic classification
Divided into yellow, orange spectrum; red, purple spectrum; blue, green, brown and black spectrum.
(2) Classification of pigment chemical structure.
It is divided into six types based on the chromogenic genes contained in the organic pigment molecules;
Azo pigments, lake pigments, heterocyclic pigments, fused ring ketone pigments, phthalocyanine pigments, and other pigments.
(3) classification of pigment application properties
In the application classification, it is specifically divided into ink pigments, organic pigments for ink pigments, organic pigments for coatings, organic pigments for resins / plastics, organic pigments for rubber / latex, organic pigments for textile printing, and functional pigments. Color filter pigments, fluorescent pigments, electrophotographic charge production layer pigments, food and cosmetic pigments, etc.
